Why can I no longer book a certain category online?
Once a category is no longer bookable, it is fully booked and unavailable. If your request does not meet the minimum stay requirements, the system will tell you that a higher number of nights is required to make a booking.
Which pitch should I book if I'm arriving with a tent?
Guests arriving with a tent may book any category. We recommend the Classic Pitch by the Lake, Comfort by the Lake or Prestige by the Lake. These are the categories with grass. The other categories are paved pitches with gravel and shingle.
How do I add extras (e.g. pets) to my booking?
During the booking process, please only enter the number of extras, not the number of nights. For example, if you're staying with us for 2 nights with one dog, please enter 1 dog (not 2). If you didn't do this during the reservation, please contact us briefly by phone or email so we can add it to your booking.
The minimum stay is e.g. 3 nights. Can I come for fewer nights?
We require a minimum stay for a reservation in each category. This is visible in the booking system. For accommodation, these minimum stays also apply to walk-in guests without a reservation. Walk-in guests with a motorhome/tent/caravan are also welcome without a reservation for fewer nights than the stated minimum. Please note that in this case there is no guarantee of a pitch.
Can I borrow a cot or bed guard?
If you need a cot or a bed guard for the bunk beds, please note this in the comments field during the booking process, or get in touch by email with your booking number. We provide these free of charge when needed.
Can I book a specific pitch?
During the booking process, you may indicate a pitch preference in the notes field. We always do our best to fulfil this request, but we can never guarantee a specific pitch 100% due to occupancy, prior bookings, extensions, unforeseen natural events, etc.
A deposit was required when booking. When and how do I pay the remaining balance? What payment methods are accepted?
When booking, your credit card is automatically charged 25% of the total amount. Please pay the remaining balance on site by credit card or in cash.
Do you still have pitches/accommodation available?
As long as pitches/accommodation are still available on our website, we still have spaces free. Please note that reservations for the current day are no longer possible. In this case you are considered a walk-in guest without a reservation and with no guarantee of a pitch.
Until what time can I arrive? What do I do if reception is closed? What are the reception opening hours?
Our reception is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00, and Friday to Sunday continuously from 8:00 to 20:00. If reception is already closed in the evening, you can turn to our restaurant, the Brasserie am See.
Can I arrive by public transport?
Of course! The town of Erlach is easily accessible by bus from Ins or Lüscherz railway stations. From there it's just a short walk through the charming old town to Lake Biel and our campsite. Another option is to arrive by boat across Lake Biel to Erlach.
If you travel by train and bus, you can take advantage of attractive discount fares by booking early. It is also possible to have your luggage transported by public transport within Switzerland. Train and bus timetables, as well as further information on luggage transport, can be found at sbb.ch.
What adapter do I need for camping?
To connect your setup to the electricity supply, you need a three-pin CEE plug. In Switzerland, you will also find household sockets of type C or type J. CEE short adapters can be purchased in the shop.
Can I park my car directly next to my tent?
No, cars must always be parked outside the campsite, at the "Du Port" car park or the "Schützenländti" car park. We will explain this in more detail at check-in.
Can I bring my pet?
We welcome all types of pets on pitches. Please register them when booking. Pets must always be kept on a leash. Pets are not permitted in the rental accommodation.
Can I put up an additional tent on my pitch?
Adding a small extra tent (max. 3 x 3 metres) is possible on request and at no extra charge. (Please note: not every pitch category is suitable for pitching a tent.)
Can I buy tickets for excursions at reception?
At our reception you can purchase tickets for the BSG (Bieler Schifffahrtsgesellschaft). For other excursions, we are happy to provide you with information.
What memberships do you accept? What discounts do you offer?
We accept all CampingKey Europe and CampingCard International members. We also accept the ADAC Campcard and CAMC membership cards. With these cards you receive a 15% discount on the pure pitch rate during defined periods in the low season. The ACSI card is also valid with us, but only for the Classic in the Park category. Do you have WiFi?
Yes, we provide a free network that covers the entire campsite except for the "Classic in the Park" category – perfect for anyone who wants to detox. And for those who can't do without, internet/WiFi is available in the main building.
Are the showers charged separately?
The showers are included in the price.
Can I do laundry here?
Washing machines and dryers are available in two of our sanitary buildings. Reservation and payment for the washing machines and dryers is handled directly via the WeWash app. You can download the WeWash app or register at www.we-wash.com. Laundry strips are available for purchase in our shop.
Can I charge my electric car here?
Electric cars can be charged at the "Du Port" car park outside the campsite. Further charging stations can be found here.
What food options do you have?
You certainly won't go hungry. Available to you: our restaurant Brasserie am See (www.brasserieamsee.ch), from May also the Strand-Chuchi (the permanent food truck) in good weather, and for those who love cooking for themselves, we have a very well-stocked shop.
Where do I empty my chemical toilet?
We have two chemical toilet disposal points. We will be happy to show you where they are at check-in.
What is the difference between Classic, Comfort and Prestige pitches? / How big are the pitches?
All pitches are equipped with electricity. The differences between categories are the location (e.g. front row by the lake) and the water/waste water connections.
The amenities for each pitch are listed on the website.
Am I allowed to barbecue on my pitch?
Yes, this is permitted. Open fires are only allowed in designated areas. Barbecuing with approved and functional gas, electric and charcoal grills is permitted on the pitch. Please be considerate of neighbours when it comes to smoke.
During dry periods, official instructions regarding fire bans must be followed. Setting off fireworks, lighting open fires, fires on the ground and disposable grills are strictly prohibited throughout the entire site.
Do I need to pre-order bread?
Pre-ordering is not necessary. There is always a selection of freshly baked goods available in the morning. However, if you want to be sure of getting bread or a plaited loaf, we recommend placing an order the evening before by 6:00 pm.
What additional costs are there in the Erlach tourism region?
The tourist taxes are as follows:
Adults (16+ years): CHF 1.40 + CHF 1.00 accommodation tax
Children & teenagers (6–15 years): CHF 0.70
Children (0–5 years): free
These rates are set by the municipality of Erlach and are subject to change at any time.
Can I arrive with my school group?
We do not accommodate school groups.
Can I arrive if I am under 18 years of age?
Minors are very welcome with us, provided they are travelling in the company of an adult. A signature from a parent or guardian alone is not sufficient.
Is firewood available?
Bundles of wood, charcoal and fire starters are available to purchase in our shop. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood.
How many vehicles may I park on a pitch?
Only one vehicle is permitted per pitch – this can be a camper, van, caravan or motorhome.
Can I put up an awning or sunshade?
Yes, one awning or sunshade per pitch is permitted.
How many tents are permitted per pitch?
One tent per pitch is permitted.
I would like to pitch an additional tent – what do I need to bear in mind?
If there is already a tent on the pitch and you would like to add another one:
a) If the second tent is larger than 9 m², an additional pitch must be booked.
b) If the second tent is smaller than 9 m², a separate tent spot (Basic pitch) must be booked. Please contact the reception team in advance so they can check the request.
Can I add a tent to my camper, van or caravan?
Yes, this is possible if the tent is smaller than 9 m². We charge an additional CHF 9 per night for this. Please contact the reception team in advance so they can check the request.
If the tent is larger than 9 m², an additional pitch must be booked.
Why are there size restrictions for tents?
To ensure that all guests have sufficient space and comfort, and that safety on the campsite is maintained.
